Last month we completed my installation with Hospital Rooms at Eileen Skellern 1, a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for women at the Maudsley Hospital in South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
I made a large scale wall painting, with a direct to media dibond print which took careful planning and research over several months, and four days to install. My hope is to bring the restorative qualities of plants and nature into the space.
It was a great team effort with incredible support from Hospital Rooms co-founders Niamh White and Tim A Shaw, the ES1 staff and service users, Metro Imaging and Liquitex Art Materials.
Other artists creating work for Eileen Skellern 1 are Paresha Amin, Aimee Mullins, Harold Offeh, Nengi Omuku and Tim A Shaw. It has been wonderful to see the space transforming with each artists contribution.
This project was funded by Arts Council England, and through the generosity of Sebastian Moncrieff Qc, Hospital Rooms friends and donors.
